Vedavathi sila

Musical stone also called Vedavathi shila is an attraction near Basara Saraswathi temple producing different sounds when hit by a stone. We can listen to many sounds if we keep ears to stone and hit on other side. The stone is a kind of ‘Tanka Shila’ producing musical sound.

The stone initiallybasara-vedavati-shila-musical-stone identified in 10th century by local tribals and synonymous with Music Swaras of Sasraswathi playing Veena. the stone resembles humming of Vedas and singing of melodies. Its believed that by touching the stone and hearing the music generated will take away sins and grant the knowledge desired.
